The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada, recognized the general elections as a dignified, sovereign and legitimate right for the selection of the president, vice president and deputies.

Managua, November 6 (RHC)-- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada, recognized the general elections as a dignified, sovereign and legitimate right for the selection of the president, vice president and deputies.

"Next Sunday's elections are for Nicaraguans (an) exercise of dignity, sovereignty and defense of the homeland," said the foreign minister while greeting the 250 accompanying officials from 27 countries who will witness the elections.  Moncada insisted that Nicaraguans have the full right to elect their authorities.

He thanked them for their presence on election day in a context marked by powers (without mentioning them by name) that have always maintained an attitude of aggression against his country and show "a stubborn attitude in political terms against the government of President Daniel Ortega."

Moncada said that the 250 representatives from 27 countries are "advanced, progressive figures and defenders of the truth" and recalled the formula of the current President Ortega and the vice-mandate Rosario Murillo as candidates of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).

The reform to Law 331 or Electoral Law, approved last May 4, substituted electoral observation for the figure of accompaniment and in these elections the observers of the Organization of American States (OAS), the European Union and the US Carter Center will not intervene.

Tomorrow, November 7, 4,478,334 Nicaraguans over 16 years of age will be able to exercise their right to vote to elect the presidential team that will lead the Central American nation during the 2022-2027 five-year term.
