La Paz, November 28 (RHC)-- The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, headed this Saturday the section of the "March for the Homeland," which on its fifth day entered the town of Calamarca, where it was received by community members who expressed their support for the defense of democracy.

The president announced that he was joining the people's march in defense of his legitimate government, elected at the polls, and that it is also a demonstration in defense of democracy in Bolivia.   Luis Arce also said that in the march there is a united people, from all regions of Bolivia.  "With you, we will never feel alone.  Thank you, my sisters and brothers," he said.

The Bolivian president stressed that the country needs to continue working for the economic reactivation and reconstruction, while he said that there are people who do not want the country to move forward.  In this sense, he stated that the people will not allow foreign interests to interfere in Bolivia.

He recalled that in October 2020, the citizens made the decision to elect a government "of the people and for the people."  He also questioned groups that do not respect that vote and seek to paralyze the economy that is slowly being reactivated.

"We continue the march.  We'll arrive in La Paz and we will show the whole world that Bolivians are united with a single objective," emphasized President Luis Arce.

The march began last Tuesday in the municipality of Caracollo in the department of Oruro, led by the leader of the Movement Towards Socialism-Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples (MAS-IPSP), Evo Morales.  Marchers plan to arrive in the city of La Paz on Monday to support the government of Luis Arce.

The call for the mobilization came after civic groups, especially from Santa Cruz and Potosí, called for an indefinite strike with measures of violence against citizens and warnings of destabilization similar to those of 2019, the year of the coup d'état.
