La Paz, October 26 (RHC)-- Bolivian President Luis Arce affirmed that the issue of the Population and Housing Census, scheduled for 2024, should involve everyone and not just a Governorate.

During an event held in La Paz, Arce emphasized that "the issue of the Census does not belong to a Governorate.  The issue of the Census involves all of us, the 300 and so many municipalities we have, the nine Governorates, the autonomous indigenous and native peasant governments and also, of course, the regional autonomies."

The President reiterated that with this census they seek that no one is excluded as happened in the national survey conducted in 2012.  "We have heard from the native indigenous people of Santa Cruz, from the native peoples, working sectors the demand to be taken into account in the Census," said the head of state.

In addition, he assured that they expect to have real, concrete, technical and professional figures from the Census. That is why they are willing to discuss this issue with the whole country.  President Arce called for a national meeting of social sectors and institutions for on Friday, October 28th, in Cochabamba with the purpose of gathering proposals "for a census with consensus."

"The meeting will be this Friday in Cochabamba, collecting the proposal of trade union organizations, social, economic and productive sectors, native indigenous nations, professionals, university students and people with disabilities, gathered in Santa Cruz," he said through his account on the social network Twitter.

Several sectors of the country have expressed their support to this initiative to put an end to the indefinite strike promoted by the governor of the department of Santa Cruz, Fernando Camacho, and civic organizations that ask for the census to be in 2023, but without explaining the technical way of executing their proposal.
