Bogotá, August 19 (Xinhua-RHC) -- Colombia's recently re-elected President, Juan Manuel Santos, met with his new cabinet in Bogotá on Monday, to map out the political strategy for his second term.

The meeting agenda included measures for economic development, solutions to social inequality, education and the ongoing peace talks with armed rebels.

Former cabinet members also attended the meeting. They were expected to present an overview on the first four-year term (2010-2014) and help the transition process.

The closed-door meeting began at 10 a.m. local time (1500 GMT) and concluded later in the day.

Santos had met with his defense minister and other military leaders on Sunday to discuss national security issues, including assembling a group of military experts specialized in disarmament to take part in the peace process with the rebels.

The peace talks aim to put an end to the half-century fighting between government security forces and members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the country's largest rebel group.

Santos took the oath for his second term on August 7th. His pursuit of a peace deal with the rebels is believed to be a key factor in his re-election win.
