Caracas, Apr 27 (RHC) The National Assembly of Venezuela will continue the discussion of the draft Organic Law on Asset Forfeiture, a proposal that seeks to strengthen the State in its fight against corruption.

In statements to the television, the first vice president of the Parliamentary Comptroller’s Permanent Commission, William Gil, announced the possibility that the initiative would be approved on Thursday, after two previous discussions in the parliament chamber.

Once the proposal is approved and becomes law, the Supreme Court of Justice will have two months to create specialized courts, he explained.

The first vice president of the PSUV and head of the “Bloque de la Patria” pro-government party, Diosdado Cabello, presented the draft for the Organic Law of Extinction of Ownership at the end of last March. The law was approved in its first discussion “with regulatory urgency and unanimously”.

The draft consists of 46 articles and four chapters and seeks to repair the damage caused to the State and the people by acts of corruption, through mechanisms that allow the identification, location and recovery of ill-gotten assets, Cabello explained.

The president of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, said during his speech, that if the issue of corruption is not addressed as a true economic, political and social system, “we will not be able to remove the ballast of corruption” and those “trash that are corrupt”.

He assured that all of them will go to jail, wherever they may be, and stated that “with this law, we will be able to recover and compensate the damages to the public treasury and by this, telling the people of Venezuela that this time they did not make fun of us.” (Source: Prensa Latina)
