Representatives of Bolivia and Brazil discuss preparations for the Summit of Amazonian Presidents

Brasilia, May 1 (RHC)-- The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, Freddy Mamani, and the Secretary General of Itamaraty, in Brazil, Maria Laura da Rocha, exchanged on the main issues of the bilateral agenda.

Through a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of La Paz reported that the Bolivian delegation arrived in the city of Brasilia as part of "the constant dialogue that Bolivia maintains with the countries of the world, especially in the region."   

The agenda discussed at the Itamaraty (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil) included issues such as trade, integration and border cooperation, as well as the energy sector, the fight against transnational crimes and defense.

The meeting also reviewed issues of multilateral interest such as the prospects for cooperation in South America and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

They also discussed the development of the Summit of Amazonian Presidents to be held next August in Belem do Pará (Brazil), which is expected to be attended by high-level representatives of the countries that share the Amazon to analyze problems affecting that region.

During his visit to Brazil, the Bolivian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs also met with representatives of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, with whom he stressed the importance of the South American giant being part of the Ibero-American Institute of Indigenous Languages.
