Venezuela participates in 186th OPEC Ministerial Conference

Vienna, June 4 (RHC)-- Venezuela's Minister of Petroleum, Rafael Tellechea, announced on Saturday that he is participating in the 186th Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which is being held in Vienna, Austria.

Tellechea stated on his Twitter account that he is attending the Conference to represent Venezuela "in the task of maintaining the stability of the world oil market."

OPEC member countries are holding a meeting in Vienna to bring their positions closer together ahead of this Sunday's conference with their 10 allies, including Russia.  At the conference they will decide what the level of their oil production will be in the coming months.

OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais stated that Venezuela has been a key, historical and prominent country among the five founders of the organization and its historical relationship over the decades.  "The relationship between OPEC and Venezuela is a historical relationship in all its definition.  As you know, Venezuela was one of the key founders among the five founding members of OPEC, in 1960.  Venezuela has played a key role in all the agreements and presidential summits", highlighted Al-Ghais interviewed by Venezolana de Televisión.

He also stated that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been a great collaborator and supporter of the organization at all levels.

In this context, OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais stated that Venezuela has been a key, historical and prominent country among the five founders of the organization and its historical relationship over the decades
