Paris, Jun 23 (RHC) The French government will finance, through donations, part of the agrarian reform in Colombia as backing for the Total Peace policy, President Gustavo Petro assured Friday.
Petro, who is participating in the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact, highlighted the commitment expressed by his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, during the bilateral meeting the day before on this issue.
"France would contribute to agrarian reform. That is the agreement. They (the Government) accept my proposal, for the financing of the agrarian reform, as the main fact of cooperation with Colombia. They are donation resources, we are not talking about credits", highlighted the President.
Petro told the press that "the agrarian reform -essential for equity and social justice in the countryside- cannot be done through an international credit but through a donor fund, since this is the central axis of peace, in the rural world".
