Guatemala City, July 16 (RHC)-- The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of Guatemala informed this Friday that it is advancing in the process of printing the electoral ballots to be used during the second round of the presidential elections of next August 20th.
"After the officialization of the results of the election results for the position of President and Vice President of the Republic, (the) Electoral Directorate advances in the logistics for the printing of electoral ballots for next August 20," the TSE published in its Twitter account.
In another tweet, the highest electoral body of the Central American country noted that the resolution of the Constitutional Court "ratified the agreement issued by the TSE, which states that the second round will be held (...) between the presidential binomials of the UNE Party and the Seed Movement".
This Friday, the TSE published in the Diario de Centro América the Agreement 1328-2023, through which the results of the general elections of last June 25 were made official.
This agreement establishes that former first lady Sandra Torres, from Unidad Nacional de la Esperanza (UNE), and Bernardo Arévalo, from Movimiento Semilla, were the candidates who obtained the most votes to compete in the runoff that will elect the new president of the country for the period 2024-2028.
Arévalo began his electoral campaign this Friday ahead of the August 20 vote with rallies in the cities of Sololá and Quetzaltenango.
Torres, for her part, issued on her social networks a message to her supporters in which she thanked them for the support received and said she will wait because she believes that "it is not clear" against whom she will compete in the ballot.
