Moscow, Aug 11 (RHC) The Russian 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade occupied the ventilation shaft of the Trudovskaya mine near Krasnogorovka, a strategic stronghold of the Ukrainian forces, the Defense Ministry said Friday.

The Defense Ministry said that as a result of the attack, Russian soldiers liberated the position and dug in, thus taking an important step forward in the direction of Marinka in the Donetsk People's Republic.

The Defense Ministry also shared images of the artillery preparation that preceded the assault, showing massive hits in the area near the mine ventilation shaft.

The artillery preparation is necessary to suppress the enemy's firing points so that the assault units can approach without suffering losses, and occupy it, the information highlighted.

During the first days of August, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported the defeat of Ukrainian Armed Forces troops and equipment in the Krasnogorovka area, which is located a few kilometers north of Maryinka.
