Some 343,000 Venezuelans returned to the country through migration plan

Caracas, Sep 2 (RHC) A group of 162 Venezuelans who arrived Friday from Peru completed the figure of 342,880 emigrants returning through the Return to the Homeland Plan, since its creation in 2018.

Many of these voluntarily returned compatriots were victims of human trafficking, xenophobia, discrimination and hatred, stated the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Latin America, Rander Peña, upon receiving his compatriots on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro.

These Venezuelans, he said, are now safe in their country thanks to the Return to the Homeland Plan, which allows the free return of these people in vulnerable situations, many of whom remained stranded in various countries without resources to return.

The Vice-President recalled the proposal made by the Government at the recent Regional and South American Conference on Migration in Panama to hold a global conference in Venezuela to discuss the fundamental rights of all migrants in the world and protect their free mobility.

The last emigrants returned this Friday from Peru traveled in a flight of the Venezuelan Consortium of Aeronautical Industries and Air Services, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Plan Vuelta a la Patria was created by President Maduro in August 2018 to guarantee the return of Venezuelans under migrant status without their own resources, some of them left the country under deceptions such as the promise of guaranteeing them better living conditions.
