New Delhi, September 10 (RHC)-- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the presidency of the Group of Twenty to Brazilian President Luis Inácio Lula Da Silva at the closing ceremony of the Summit in New Delhi.  Modi gave Lula the gavel as a symbol of the transfer of the leadership of the bloc, which the South American country will assume as of December 1st.

Modi also called for a virtual summit in November to evaluate the projects adopted during the two-day event held in New Delhi.   The Indian prime minister expressed his support for Brazil's leadership of the group and expressed his confidence in Lula's work to promote the projects agreed upon by G20 members with dedication and vision in pursuit of global unity and prosperity.

For his part, the Brazilian president advocated peace, cooperation and unity of the bloc and the end of all conflicts.  Lula described the Indian head of state's leadership of the G20 presidency as effective and the work in the preparation of the Summit as excellent, while underscoring the affection received by the participants since his arrival in the South Asian nation.

He thanked India for its efforts to give a voice to all emerging countries and welcomed the incorporation of the African Union as a full member of the bloc. He pointed out that for 15 years the G20 has consolidated itself as one of the main instances of global governance in the face of a crisis that has affected the world economy.

The Brazilian president added that the joint action made it possible to face one of the most critical moments in the world, but it was insufficient to correct the structural errors of neoliberalism, he said.

Therefore, he urged to work for the elimination of inequalities in access to health, education, food, gender and race, which, he ratified, is the origin of all anomalies.   (Source: Prensa Latina).
