Caracas, April 24 RHC)-- The XXIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the countries that are part of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), was held in Caracas on Wednesday.   ALBA-TCP is an integrationist bloc founded 20 years ago -- in 2004 -- by the then presidents of Cuba and Venezuela, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez..

The host head of state, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed the presidents, prime ministers and high-level officials attending at the Miraflores Palace: Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Miguel Díaz-Canel (Cuba) and Luis Arce (Bolivia) , the heads of Government Gaston Browne (Antigua and Barbuda), Ralph Gonsalves (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), Roosevelt Skerrit (Dominica) and Phillip J. Pierre (Saint Lucia), as well as the Foreign Minister of Grenada, Joseph Andall and the ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Norgen Wilson.

Various topics were addressed, including the strengthening of sovereignty in the global South, solidarity with Palestine and the need to counteract U.S. interference in the region.
After concluding the debates, the Summit Declaration and the Strategic Agenda of the ALBA-TCP was announced.  This incorporates actions in five dimensions - economic, political, social, cultural and communication - and was presented during the Meeting for a World Social Alternative, held the previous week in Caracas.

As in previous meetings, the countries that make up the bloc seek to identify lines of work and actions that result in the transformation of Latin American societies based on popular empowerment, the strengthening of sovereignty, solidarity and cooperation with an anti-imperialist and unitary approach, as well as favorable to development with growth, social justice and economic complementarity.
