Venezuela's ambassador to the UN, Samuel Moncada, was elected vice president of the General Assembly.

Caracas, June 7 (RHC)-- Venezuela was designated this Thursday to represent the Latin American and Caribbean region in the United  Nations (UN) General Assembly.

Venezuela's permanent ambassador to the UN, Samuel Moncada, was elected vice president of the General Assembly "by acclamation and without vote" -- representing Latin America and the Caribbean.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil highlighted in his account on the social network that it is important to note that other countries, including Russia, Algeria, Angola, Austria, China, France, Ghana, Italy, Madagascar and Thailand, were also selected for vice-presidential positions in the UN General Assembly.

Furthermore, he added that "they still insist on prolonging over time the failed policy of self-proclamation and ignorance of the legitimate institutions of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and of President Nicolas Maduro as head of state, with the sole purpose of legitimizing theft of property," pointing to their confiscation of CITGO.”
