Caracas, August 24 (RHC)-- The vice-president of Communal Councils and Communes of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Jorge Arreaza talked about the Second National Popular Consultation 2024 to be held tomorrow, Sunday.  “It is an example of how Venezuelan democracy differs from other representative democratic processes, which are processes co-opted and hijacked by the power of big business and transnational corporations.”

Arreaza said that Venezuela deepens its democracy every day: “We here in Venezuela owe ourselves as a people,” noting that this Sunday, all Venezuelans over 15 years old are invited to participate.

“We will go to the polling stations located in each commune.  In most cases, there will be only one polling station per commune, although in some cases there may be two,” said the former Venezuelan foreign minister.

Arreaza stated that with this democratic exercise, people will find the list of projects to “discuss and select in communal assemblies on concrete agendas for action.”  He explained that “these projects represent potential solutions to problems affecting the community.  From six to seven projects, we will select one.  This election is an order for the revolutionary government of President Maduro.  The Government will allocate resources directly to the people’s power to solve this problem and move towards its solution.”

The official added that in this second popular consultation, water projects, education projects, electricity projects and road projects are being proposed.  “These are projects prioritized by the people in their territory, according to their own criteria and needs,” Arreaza said.

He confirmed what had already been said by the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro: that every three months, a consultation will be held.  “Each time, we will refine the mechanism and there will be more resources.  The communal assembly will be better prepared and equipped to make the best decisions.  It is a process that has just been born and that is exemplary and unique in the world.”
