Caracas, August 30 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello reported on Friday afternoon that the power supply has begun to recover in Venezuela’s capital city after the suspension of service that occurred in the early hours of the morning.
“We are not going to give up and will defend our people. Even though we denounce them, they persist with their plans because their interest is to bring our people to their knees,” Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, accusing the far-right of orchestrating the electrical sabotage that caused a suspension of service in Caracas and 23 states across this South American country.
“The network is already being energized. All services are being checked. Some sectors of Caracas are already receiving electricity. The restoration of the service is a process that will occur gradually because security measures are being taken to avoid making mistakes,” Cabello said and stressed that no incidents have been reported in Venezuela.
“We have total peace in the country. The security agencies immediately went out to patrol without any problems,” the Interior Minister pointed out.
For his part, Communications Minister Freddy Ñañez previously noted that “the far-right has attempted a desperate, blind, and stubborn move that leads nowhere except to rob Venezuelans of their peace.”
Ñañez asserted that the sabotage is part of a coup plan orchestrated by Edmundo Gonzales, the former presidential candidate of the Democratic Unitary Platform, and Maria Corina Machado, a far-right politician linked to violent attempts at political destabilization.
Through social media, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called on citizens not to be intimidated by the pressure tactics the far-right uses to achieve its objectives.
“At this moment, some sectors of Caracas are already starting to be powered… It will gradually reach the entire national territory. “As always, I am with the people and on the front line of battle, facing this criminal attack against the national electrical system. I have said it and I repeat it: Calm, sanity, and nerves of steel! Desperate fascism attacks the people, but together we will overcome this new attack. We will always win!,” the Bolivarian leader stressed.
The Communications Minister also recalled that the authorities have kept an “anti-coup plan” active since before the presidential elections on July 28th. Its objective is to neutralize the fascist plans of the far-right that seeks to undermine the credibility of institutions. “Neither through deception nor violence could they do it on July 28, 29, and 30. Now they have tried another desperate measure,” Ñañez said, referring to the blackout whose ultimate purpose is to rob people of their peace of mind.
The last major national blackout occurred in March 2019, when much of Venezuela was left without electrical service for four days. This happened as a result of sabotage involving extremist opposition groups, which were supported by the governments of the United States and Colombia, led at the time by Donald Trump and Ivan Duque.
