What? Me worry?

Brasilia, September 14 (RHC)-- In Brasilia, the judge of the Supreme Federal Court, Alexandre de Moraes, determined the transfer of 3.3 million dollars blocked from X and Starlink to the coffers of the Brazilian State.

The magistrate of the Supreme Court of Brazil, Alexandre de Moraes ordered on Friday the transfer to the Brazilian State of 3.3 million dollars from companies of the magnate Elon Musk for the payment of the fines incurred by his social network X, which is currently suspended in the country.

The judge of the Supreme Federal Court determined the transfer to the Union's coffers of 3.3 million dollars blocked in accounts of X and the satellite internet firm Starlink, both belonging to Musk.  The decision was signed by Judge Moraes, the STF reported in a brief note.

Moraes ordered the suspension of the social network X on August 30th, accusing it of dismissing the measures of the courts of his country to suspend accounts accused of misinformation and refusing to appoint a legal representative in Brazil.

The judge froze resources of X and Starlink, which has been operating in the South American country since 2022, especially in communities in the Amazon, to guarantee the payment of fines imposed on X for its judicial breaches.

Brazilians who try to circumvent X's block by using "technological subterfuge" such as virtual private networks (VPNs) face fines of up to $9,000.

The suspension of the social network was applauded by many supporters of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and criticized by the right-wing opposition.
