Gaza City, November 24 (RHC)--The government media office in the Gaza Strip reports that another Palestinian journalist has been killed in an Israeli airstrike, raising the death toll to 189 since last October.

The office said in a statement on Saturday that Wael Ibrahim Abu Quffa, who worked as a journalist for the Educational Quran Radio – Voice of the Islamic University, lost his life when an Israeli warplane targeted his family home close to Ain Jalut Towers area in the Nuseirat refugee camp.  He was also a lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Media at the Islamic University of Gaza.

The media office condemned the killing and urged the international community to intervene to stop Israel's "systematic" attacks on Palestinian journalists.

It also urged international organizations and governments to “hold Israel accountable by taking legal action in international courts and to put pressure on Israel to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

Journalists operating in the Palestinian territory are faced with increased dangers as they report on the conflict amidst Israeli ground assaults and airstrikes, disrupted communications, supply shortages, and power outages.

Journalists risk their lives in Gaza to report on the conflict amid Israeli ground assaults and airstrikes, as well as disrupted communications, supply shortages, and power outages.

Backed by the United States and its Western allies, Israel launched the genocidal war of aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against the Israeli regime in response to its decades-long campaign of oppression against Palestinians.

The regime’s bloody onslaught on Gaza has so far killed 44,176 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 104,473 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.
