Caracas, November 27 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro affirmed this Wednesday that his nation is self-sufficient in food for the first time in 120 years.

Through his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan leader asserted that he is awaiting the results and positive experiences throughout the country regarding the increase in national production and self-sufficiency in food.   He said that the work carried out by the producers has the purpose of solidifying the trend of the export vocation stage, "to supply ourselves and supply international markets with organic products."

And the Venezuelan president also exclaimed "that the nation is recovering and nothing and no one will stop us," referring to the efforts made by Venezuelan producers to promote more sustainable and healthy agricultural practices, all this through the Scientific-Peasant Alliance.

Through the Scientific-Peasant Alliance, this 2024 has registered 40,000 hectares of corn processed with biotechnological tools, a technique that uses living organisms or part of them to improve the functioning of biopesticides, fertilizers and herbicides, discarding products with toxic chemicals.

"It should be noted that Venezuela is advancing in food sovereignty, through innovation and science.  This is all in the midst of a context of current and future sanctions and escalations."
