Gaza City, December 13 (RHC)== The Gaza Strip has witnessed one of its bloodiest days as relentless Israeli attacks across the besieged territory have left at least 70 people dead and nearly 100 injured.
In central Gaza, Israelis targeted several homes in the Nuseirat camp on Thursday, killing 30 civilians and injuring over 50 others. Another strike targeted a home west of the camp killing dozens more.
In the north, two Palestinians were killed and several injured in an airstrike on a house in the Jabalia al-Nazla area. In Gaza City, Israeli drones attacked a building injuring multiple people.
Earlier, a Palestinian doctor was fatally shot in the head by an Israeli drone while heading to Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia camp.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian health official reported that Israeli attacks on Gaza’s medical sector have killed over a thousand healthcare workers and injured 4000 others since October last year.
According to a Europe-based human rights monitor, Israel deliberately targets medical personnel in north Gaza to dismantle the health system and worsen living conditions for Palestinians.
This latest wave of violence came just hours after the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on Wednesday calling for "an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire" in Gaza to end Israel’s genocide war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
However, this non-binding resolution was rejected by the United States, which is Israel's primary military ally, although a total of 158 countries voted in favor of the resolution.
Washington has used its veto power to torpedo similar resolutions at the UN Security Council on almost every occasion.
Since the onset of war on October 7, 2023, the ongoing acts of aggression by Israeli forces have killed nearly 44,840 individuals and injured 106,356 others across the Gaza Strip.
