Argentina's Foreign Minister Werthein, Minister of Security Bullrich, investigation by the Venezuelan Prosecutor's Office
Caracas, January 4 (RHC)-- The Attorney General's Office of Venezuela has included Argentina's Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein as persons of interest in the investigation being conducted on Nahuel Gallo.
Nahuel Gallo was arrested while attempting to cross the border with Colombia and is being investigated by the Venezuelan Prosecutor's Office for his connection with groups that, with the support of the international far-right, sought to carry out terrorist and coup actions.
The Argentinian Chapter of the Antifascist International demanded explanations from President Javier Milei regarding the role of his government in the illegal entry of Argentine gendarme Nahuel Gallo into Venezuelan territory, with the intention of participating in activities of a terrorist and destabilizing nature.
Through a statement, the organization questioned whether this incident is due to a "government decision" to send the agent and if it is part of a campaign aimed at fostering coup maneuvers in neighboring countries.
The Antifascist International highlighted the importance of the denunciation made in this regard by Venezuelan authorities and also drew attention to the compli city of the Milei Government for harboring 61 Bolsonarist coup plotters in the country. They face legal proceedings in Brazil for their involvement in attempts to overthrow President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva and are sought by Brazilian authorities and Interpol.
The statement criticized the history of aggressive actions by the Argentine Executive against Venezuela and mentioned the case of the Emtrasur B-747 300 cargo plane, owned by the Venezuelan state, which was "sent to the United States and scrapped, with all its crew members having been tried and acquitted of charges."
"To such an extent did diplomatic relations with Venezuela drift away from our best traditions and what International Law imposes, that the Argentine Embassy in Caracas, which was a venue for regional fraternity and virtuous agreements for both nations, became a den of conspirators; and our diplomatic representation, reduced to minimal formalities, had to be exercised by another country," the text denounces.
Finally, the Argentinian Chapter of the Antifascist International urged the Argentine Congress to request reports and discuss the matter in the Intelligence Commission.
Nahuel Gallo was arrested while attempting to illegally enter Venezuela and, from there, execute an extraction operation for members of Vente Venezuela who have been staying at the Argentine Embassy in Caracas for months.
He is being investigated for his involvement in activities that endanger sovereignty and security. He enjoys all guarantees and due process is respected, Venezuelan authorities have reiterated, asserting that he is an intelligence agent.
Days ago, the Attorney General's Office of Venezuela included Argentina's Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and Chancellor Gerardo Werthein as persons of interest in the investigation being conducted on Nahuel Gallo.
