Bogota, April 16 (RHC)-- On the digital network X, the Colombian president denounced that, as part of the political persecution of Daniel Noboa, Colombian election observers have been detained, and he assured that he will grant political asylum to anyone who arrives in his country.

Before making this decision, the Colombian president declared that he cannot recognize the elections in Ecuador because they were held under a state of siege.

Just hours after the leaked list of 100 Ecuadorians de facto barred from leaving the country, including members of the Citizen Revolution movement, critics of the Noboa government, and even journalists, was released, the President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, announced that his government will guarantee asylum.

After acknowledging the existence of the blacklist of opponents in Ecuador who are being persecuted, the head of state denounced, in his message on the digital network X, that Colombian election observers have been detained.

Prior to this decision, the Colombian president refused to recognize the results of Ecuador's National Electoral Council.  "The Army directed the election day, the polling stations during the elections, and the vote count.  "There are no free elections under a state of siege," explained Gustavo Petro.

Wednesday morning, former Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa denounced the existence of a migration alert against at least 100 members or followers of the progressive Citizens' Revolution (RC) movement, as part of the political persecution ordered by the Daniel Noboa government.

As a result, the running mate of RC presidential candidate Diego Borja reported that he and his family were arbitrarily detained the day before as they attempted to travel to Colombia for Easter.

Likewise, Verónica Sarauz, widow of assassinated presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio, was also a victim of political persecution when she attempted to enter the country.

From Ecuador and around the world, numerous personalities, political leaders, and organizations have rejected the results of the presidential runoff, a process marked by multiple irregularities, including a state of emergency, unsigned ballots, and political persecution.
