Mexico City, December 25 (RHC-teleSUR) -- The staff of the Human Rights Unit of the Attorney General of Mexico (PGR) suspended its search for the remaining 42 missing Ayotzinapa students, an official said Wednesday.

Forensic experts confirmed the identity of Alexander Mora, one of the 43 students disappeared in the southern state of Guerrero September 26th. Officials said that they found his charred remains in a landfill in early December.

The head of the unit said workers are currently on vacation and will resume search efforts on January 7th. He added that relatives of the missing students have been notified. However, there will be an emergency team available in order to deal with any situation that could arise.

Meanwhile, the parents of the 42 students still missing asked the international community Wednesday to not forget their sons and to pressure the government of Enrique Peña Nieto to provide answers after three months of uncertainty.

The parents say there is nothing to celebrate this Christmas and announced that they will conduct a Christmas Eve protest in front of the presidential residence of Los Pinos, in Mexico City, to demand that their children be returned to them.

They also also issued a Christmas message on Youtube. In the short video, five parents remembered last year's Christmas when their sons were still home, saying: “We are not celebrating Christmas this year. It's going to be a very sad Christmas, without our dear sons.”

The video, produced by the Mexican journalism collective Ojos de Perro, closes with the message: “We wish you a Merry Christmas, and please, don’t forget about us.”
