Washington, December 26 (RHC)-- The fallout of a damning U.S. Congressional report condemning CIA torture techniques continues. While the controversial report is still at the center of debates in political circles around the world, new aspects of it are making their way to the media.

Anna O’Leary, an Ireland-based writer and political commentator, has told Press TV that the CIA has also used Ireland alongside other countries in its extreme torture program. “Ireland has been allowing the Americans to land at Shannon Airport for the past 30 years,” O’Leary said. “Going through Shannon, we have had 200 trucks that have been listed in this new document,” she told Press TV’s UK Desk in an exclusive interview.

She added that there have been protests in Ireland against the U.S. use of Shannon Airport, stressing that the facility had been mostly used in what is now internationally known as “rendition flights.” O’Leary further emphasized that nobody expects the controversy would lead to the prosecution of any former and present British official including Tony Blair. But she emphasized that London is already preparing for “damage-limitation” in the aftermath of the publication of the CIA torture report.
