Washington, July 2 (RHC)-- Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has raised more than $45 million in the first quarter of her 2016 White House bid. "Still running the numbers -- but here's what we know: In the first quarter of this campaign, supporters gave more than $45 million," Clinton tweeted on Wednesday morning.

Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta claimed that more than 90 percent of all donations were in amounts of $100 or less. He emphasized that this shows the Democratic front-runner's broad-based grassroots support.

Hillary Clinton has amassed this money since she entered the race for the White House in April, a record fundraising for presidential candidates in any quarter. Clinton's effort breaks the previous record of $42 million established by President Barack Obama in 2011 during his re-election campaign.

Clinton has raised the record money despite the fact that most people in the United States now have an unfavorable view of Clinton and believe she is not honest and trustworthy, according to a poll on the 2016 race for the White House.

Clinton's favorable ratings have dropped significantly across several key indicators since she launched her presidential campaign in April, according to a CNN/ORC poll released last month. A growing number of Americans, or 57 percent, don't have a favorable opinion about her and say she is not honest and trustworthy, the survey shows.
