UN will Review Situation of Indigenous Peoples in Honduras

United Nations, October 31 (RHC-PL), -- Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, announced that she will visit Honduras from November 2-10 to study the situation of the indigenous communities in the Central American country.

The Special Rapporteur expects to meet with indigenous representatives, civil society organizations and government officials of Honduras, in the capital, Tegucigalpa, and in places like Puerto Lempira, Auka, La Esperanza, Rio Blanco and La Ceiba.

On Tuesday November 11, Tauli-Corpuz will present her preliminary observations at a press conference, while the findings of the visit will be reflected in her report to the Human Rights Council of the UN.
