La Paz, Feb 24 (RHC)  The NO choice against introducing changes to Bolivia's Constitution for a presidential re-election, won with narrow margins over the YES vote in a referendum held last Sunday, despite the YES vote  prevailing in such important cities as La Paz, Oruro and Cochabamba.

When 99.49 percent of the votes had been scrutinized, 51.31 percent voted against the social movements' proposal to allow President Evo Morales and Vice President Álvaro García Linera to run in the 2019 elections, while 48.69 percent approved of the initiative.

On Tuesday, the President reaffirmed that his government would respect the results, and thanked the support vote of farmers and indigenous people.

With 17 percent of the votes to be counted, the Vice President warned that the local right-wing is trying to undermine the votes of farmers and indigenous sectors, tightening its destabilization campaigns to oust President Morales.
