Mexico City, May 9 (RHC)-- Mexican authorities said the transfer of the infamous drug lord Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman does not mean extradition to the U.S. was imminent.  The Mexican drug boss has been moved from his jail in central Mexico to a prison in the northern U.S border city of Ciudad Juarez, but authorities affirmed it was not a preamble to extradition.

Guzman, the head of the Sinaloa drug cartel, was one of the world's most important drug bosses until he was captured in January this year, six months after he broke out of a high-security jail in central Mexico.

El Chapo’s lawyer Jose Refugio Rodriguez said in February that the drug kingpin would plead guilty to all crimes he is being accused of in the U.S. if extradited to that country on the condition he not be sent to a high-security jail.
