Ottawa, May 11 (RHC)-- Canada has announced it will back a United Nations declaration to protect the rights of the world’s more than 370 million indigenous peoples.

Four countries opposed the declaration when it was first adopted by the U.N. General Assembly in 2007: Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.  Canada is the last of the four to finally embrace the statement; the United States signed on in 2010.
