Washington, July 1 (RHC)-- Presumptive U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a slender national lead over her Republican rival Donald Trump in the race for the November 2016 election.  A new poll, the Quinnipiac University survey, shows that the former U.S. secretary of state is leading the New York billionaire by only 2 percentage points, 42 to 40.

Meanwhile, Clinton also edges out Trump by 2 percentage points, 39 to 37, with third-party candidates joining the race among likely voters.  In this scenario, Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson has clinched support of 8 percent, while Green Party candidate Jill Stein bags 4 percent.

Voters are very dissatisfied with the climate surrounding the 2016 presidential campaign, pollsters found.  Sixty-one percent say the 2016 race for the White House has “increased the level of hatred and prejudice in the U.S.,” while only 34 percent say it has made “no impact.”

The new poll also found that fifty-eight percent believe that Trump would not be a good president, whereas 35 percent say he would make a good leader.
