Baracoa, October 10 (RHC)-- President Raúl Castro visited areas devastated by Hurricane Matthew in the eastern municipality of Baracoa, one of the most hard hit.
Raul toured the banks of River Toa, Cuba's mightiest, whose 300 meter bridge over the road linking the town of Baracoa with Holguin, ended up destroyed. He oversaw river-crossing solutions and walked and talked to neighbors along some two kilometers, shaking hands, listening and providing encouragement in the face of the damage.
The Cuban president said he was impressed with the high spirit of the the people in the area and reaffirmed the country's determination to extend central assistance to the devastated territory.
