Havana to Host International Convention on Environment and Development

Havana, June 28 (RHC)-- An International Convention on Environment and Development is to be held in Havana from July 3rd through the 7th.  On the opening day, participants will reflect on the environmental thought of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

Speaking to the press, Dr. Maritza García, president of the organizing committee, said that over 700 delegates from 23 countries have confirmed their participation.

Issues for discussion will included climate change, ecosystem and biodiversity management, environmental education toward sustainable development and protected areas management.

Sideline events include symposiums on sciences of sustainability, disaster and climate change risk, and natural history museums, as well as colloquiums related to sustainable land, transport and environmental management.
