San Salvador, August 21 (RHC-PL)-- Fidel Castro never visited El Salvador, but his legacy is deeply rooted in the Central American nation, where a photographic exhibition reviews scenes in the life of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
'Fidel, Always in the Memory' is the title of this month's exhibition at the Nuestra America Cultural Center, which was inaugurated in 2009 and was refurbished with support from the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN).
Center Director Miguel Marmol told Prensa Latina news agency that the exhibition consists of about 161 snapshots of the legendary Commander-in-Chief, some of which are well known, others not so much, but all of them have a story that invites research.
The photos of Fidel Castro with emblematic figures of politics and progressive world movements, such as Salvador Allende, Evo Morales, Hugo Chavez and the historic leader of the FMLN, Schafik Handal, are particularly interesting.
An initiative promoted by Morazan and Ocean Sur publishing houses and supported by the FMLN, the Nuestra America Cultural Center defends, with the arts, the recovery of popular identity and the historic memory of the people of Latin America.
Its halls host workshops, talks, events and community projects for the training and expression of new generations of Salvadoran artists who endorse the concept of Latin American unity defined by Jose Marti.
