Havana October 25 (RHC)-- The 2nd International Symposium the Cuban Revolution: Genesis and Historical Development will focus its debates this Wednesday on US-Cuba confrontation and the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, historians attending the event will discuss the evolution of Cuba's ties with the neighboring nation during the Barack Obama administration (2009-2017) and the Donald Trump administration.

They will also identify the cultural identities between both countries and the new scenarios of a historical conflict.

Other topics of the event´s agenda include Latin American and Caribbean integration, the economic and cultural social achievements of the Cuban Revolution and the validity of the thinking of the Cuban-Argentinean guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara.

Addressing the opening session of the event Tuesday, the president of the Institute of Cuban History, René González, urged Cubans not to forget the beginnings of the process of change started by Fidel Castro on January 1, 1959, and he cautioned about the US steady hostility against the island.

Some 130 historians from 20 other countries are on hand for the Symposium, which is sponsored by the Institute of History of Cuba, the Office of Historical Affairs of the State Council and other institutions.
