Havana, November 26 (RHC)--Renowned Cuban Revolutionary and intellectual Armando Hart died Sunday in Havana due to respiratory failure.

His body will lie in state at the Center of Jose Marti´s Program in Havana until 10 am Monday and then cremated according to the wishes of his family

Hart was a member of the leadership of the 26th of July movement, he was appointed as the first Minister of Education of the Revolution. He later served from 1976 to 1997 as Minister of Culture as well as a member of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party.

He was then appointed director of the Office of José Marti’s Program. At the time of his death he was the president of the Jose Marti Cultural Society.

Hart was 87.
