Havana, January 6 (RHC-PL), -- The University of Havana sent a recognition to Cuban President Raúl Castro on occasion of the higher education center's 290th anniversary celebrations.

The recognition is a painting showing a close-up image of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and his phrase "... I became a revolutionary here", on a background dominated by the emblematic statue of the Alma Mater, symbol of the university.

Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel received the recognition, on behalf of President Raúl, from the rector of the University of Havana, Dr. Gustavo Cobreiro, who also gave distinctions to institutions and organizations that have contributed to the development of the University of Havana.
