Havana, February 19 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez blasted U.S. President Donald Trump’s renewed threat to invade Venezuela.  In a Tweet, Rodríguez described Trump’s speech Monday evening in Miami, Florida, as “offensive.”

He warned that the threat of a U.S. military invasion is real and called for global solidarity with the Venezuelan people and their constitutional government led by President Nicolás Maduro, and to preserve regional peace and stability, in line with the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, agreed upon by heads of state and government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in 2014.

The top Cuban diplomat insisted that the so-called ‘humanitarian aid’ is nothing but a pretext to invade Venezuela and plunder the country’s vast proven oil reserves -- recognized as the world’s largest, totaling 297 billion barrels.

The Cuban foreign minister met Monday in Havana with a total of 108 ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions stationed here in the Cuban capital.  He used the meeting to urge those governments to publicly reject U.S. military intervention in Latin America.
