Havana, February 25 (RHC)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel said that the National Assembly of People’s Power (Cuban Parliament) must prepare now to legislate the enforcement of the country’s new Magna Carta.

Díaz-Canel described the constitutional text as robust and modern, leading to significant improvements of Cuba’s socio-economic model.

“I expect that the upcoming parliamentary sessions will be long, since we are to debate and approve five or six laws,” said the Cuban president.

He said that Cuban jurors and legal experts have been called to assist in the drafting of proposals that will be presented before Cuban deputies. He added that all government bodies are preparing to work on modifications of existing resolutions and decrees pertaining to their fields of work, in line with the new Magna Carta.

The Cuban president stressed that Sunday’s referendum took place in a complex regional and international scenario, and that “Cubans were voting not just for a new Constitution, but for Latin America, Venezuela and the dignity of all regional peoples.”
