Cuba and Turkey boost bilateral ties

Havana, February 28 (RHC)-- Cuba and Turkey are boosting their bilateral ties. The Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, met in the Cuban capital with Mrs. Gonca Yilmaz Batur, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the Republic of Turkey, currently visiting the island presiding  over the Fourth Cuba-Turkey Follow-Up Meeting,

Accompanying her is a large delegation made up of senior representatives from the Ministries of Transport, Agriculture, Health, Tourism and Culture, as well as businessmen from the Biopharmaceutical, Health, Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Industry, Construction and Tourism sectors.

During the meeting, Vice President Cabrisas thanked the Turkish delegation for its Government's growing interest in strengthening political, economic and cooperation ties with Cuba, and agreed on the great potential that exists in that Eurasian country for the insertion of its businessmen in the projects that contribute to our Economic Development Plan until 2030.

For her part, the visiting Deputy Minister advocated continuing to work for the development of direct trade between the two countries, gradually eliminating intermediaries in Turkish exports to the Cuban market, as well as for the introduction of Cuban products in the Turkish market.

At the end of the meeting, the two countries signed an agreement to coperate in biotechnology.

The two countries also signed the Action Plan for the period 2019-2020, to promoting trade.

Havana and Ankara seek to expand assistance in the field of research and development, as well as the entry of Cuban products into the Turkish market.
