Santiago de Cuba, April 24 (RHC)-- A special Cuba-Vietnam Friendship School has been inaugurated in Santiago de Cuba with the participation of Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, member of the Central Committee of the PCC and vice president of the State Council, explained that the concept of this type of school for children and adolescents with disabilities expresses the volition of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.

The president of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power noted that the school cost 5.7 million pesos, and had the capacity for 120 students from pre-school to ninth grade, who will be attended by 131 workers.

Aylín Torres Barrera spoke on behalf of the parents of the students of the new school, and acknowledged all those who have contributed to make the dreams of his daughter and other children with disabilities a reality.  She then pointed out that the U.S. will fully activate Title III of the Helms Burton Law, with which they may want to claim this beautiful school, and she affirmed that the parents of the children who study there will never allow this to happen.
