Havana, Aug 25 (RHC) Cuba and Syria are in the same trench of struggle against the blockade and aggressions of the United States, Cuban ambassador to the Arab country, Miguel Porto, said Sunday in an event to celebrate the the 54th anniversary of bilateral relations.

In his statement, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the links of solidarity and mutual support between the two nations through initiatives of leaders Fidel Castro and Hafez Al Assad.

He also indicated that the ties are increasing and work is being done to advance cooperation and exchange in sectors such as the economy, science and technology, health and education, with exchange of visits and agreements.

Porto also referred to the links of cooperation on the subject of media, cooperation and agreements in particular between the agencies Prensa Latina and SANA for the dissemination of the reality in the Levant nation, among other aspects.

Syrian Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Sousan corroborated these links and stressed that this date is a clear and consistent symbol of friendship between the two nations.
