Havana, April 10 (RHC)-- French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will pay a visit to Cuba this weekend as bilateral relations between Paris and Havana are in a good moment, according to Cuban ambassador to France, Hector Igarza.

“We are now strengthening economic and cultural relations and we wish to increase bilateral cooperation and political dialog, something we have been achieving through dialog between our foreign ministries,” said the diplomat.

Igarza expressed his country’s interest in increasing foreign investment in several areas, including the Special Economic Zone in Mariel Harbor and in encouraging tourism. He recalled that some 96,600 French vacationers came to Cuba in the first quarter of 2014, which means a slight increase of tourists from that European nation.

At present, France is Cuba’s tenth largest commercial partner in the world and its fourth major partner in Europe.
