Havana, August 31 (RHC)-- Cuba and Norway, guarantor countries of the peace negotiations between the Colombian State and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC-EP), ratified on Friday their commitment to peace in that South American country.

Through a joint statement released in Havana by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two countries expressed their deep concern about the resumption of the armed struggle by some members of the FARC-EP.

The guarantor countries 'support all those who defend the peace process in Colombia and confirm the validity of the historic Final Peace Agreement and consider that its effective implementation and strict compliance is the way to preserve peace,' reads the document.

In this regard, Cuba and Norway pointed out that the protection of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, which was designed and agreed with the main purpose of guaranteeing truth, justice, reparation and non-repetition, is particularly relevant.

The issues related to agrarian reform, the substitution of illicit crops, security and the full reintegration and reincorporation of former FARC-EP combatants into civilian life, in the interest of consolidating the peace process, are also considered to be of similar relevance.

The statement concluded stating that the guarantor countries reiterate their willingness to continue supporting and accompanying the efforts to achieve a stable and lasting peace in Colombia.
