Baku, October 27 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel wrote on his official Twitter account that the move by the Donald Trump administration to ban commerical flights from the U.S. to Cuban destinations is another attempt to suffocate our country.

On Friday, the U.S. government announced that beginning December 10th, U.S. airlines would be prohibited from flying to nine Cuban cities -- including Santiago de Cuba, Varadero, Cayo Coco, Santa Clara, Holguin and Cienfuegos -- and only be allowed to fly to and from Havana, the capital.

The Cuban president strongly denounced the new measures, designed to negatively affect the country's economy.

Miguel Diaz-Canel is wrapping up his participation in the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku, Azerbaijan.  From Baku, he will lead a Cuban delegation on an official visit to Russia.
