Havana, November 20 (RHC)-- Representatives of Cuba and Ecuador signed the records terminating six specific agreements on scientific cooperation and technical assistance, existing between the Ministries of Health of both countries since 2009.

The Ecuadorian authorities cited economic reasons for terminating and not renewing these agreements.

The two parties acknowledged the results achieved in compliance with the agreements in the areas of epidemiology, transplantology, physiatrics and rehabilitation, imaging and radiology, ophthalmology, and angiology.

Cuba asked the Ecuadorian Health authorities to guarantee the required follow-up to patients that were treated by the Cuban Medical Mission.

Since the beginning of the collaboration to date, some 3,575 Cuban health professionals worked in that country.  They performed over 12 thousand surgeries, 3,548 deliveries and administered over 100,000 doses of vaccination.

Meanwhile, a flight carrying the remaining members of the Cuban medical brigade arrived on the Caribbean island early Tuesday, completing the full withdrawal of their members to Cuban territory.
