Havana, December 14 (RHC)-- The 17th Summit of ALBA-TCP -- the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty -- issued a Final Declaration on Saturday at the conclusion of a very successful meeting.

The Final Declaration condemns the coup d'état against President Evo Morales in Bolivia, as well as other efforts led by the Donald Trump administration to overthrow governments in the region.  It also rejects Washington's application of unilateral measures such as those exercised against Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and other nations.

Read by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, the declaration expresses solidarity with the region's social movements that fight neoliberal policies.   The document repudiates the militarization and the 'brutal repression' suffered by protesters in Latin America, in the midst of the complicit silence of right-wing governments.

ALBA-TCP urged respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of nations, as well as dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.   The one-day summit was attended by the presidents of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, the prime minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and other high representatives of the nations that make up the bloc.
