Havana, March 31 (RHC) – Cuba allowed on Tuesday the landing of a Boeing 767 aircraft of the German Condor airline after it was denied landing in other regional airports to refuel.

Miguel Peña, director of the Frank País International Airport in the eastern province of Holguín, confirmed to the Cuban News Agency the authorization of the landing.

The Cuban Civil Aviation Institute said on Twitter that the aircraft was flying on a humanitarian mission to repatriate 221 passengers from Managua, Nicaragua, to Frankfort, Germany.

The workers of the Frank País International Airport complied with all the protection measures required the refueling, and the flight continued its safe course to its destination.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cuba has drastically reduced flight arrivals. On Monday, only five international flights arrived in Havana´s Jose Marti International Airport, bringing 122 travelers to the island. The planes left Havana carrying some 500 passengers.
