Havana, May 26 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has insisted on maintaining the measures against the COVID-19 pandemic.  The call from the president on his personal Twitter account was accompanied by the tag #CubaSalvaVidas.

Government authorities, including Diaz-Canel, called on Monday not to lower epidemiological surveillance in the most favorable scenario because of the decrease in new confirmed cases and the increase in discharges.

During the meeting in which the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is evaluated daily, they also urged for extreme care in the current rainy season to avoid the proliferation of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue fever and other diseases.

"We must continue to persuade the population so that a state of overconfidence is not generated and the measures continue to be applied," said Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, quoted by the Presidency of the Republic website.   In Cuba, 159 people are still living with COVID-19 after 1,704 of the 1,947 infected people have recovered.  Two were evacuated and 82 died.
