Guatemala City, May 15 (RHC) – Cuban Justice Minister Maria Esther Reus said in Guatemala that her country’s anti-drug strategy combines prevention and counteractions, which have yielded positive results since 1988.

“Cuba’s anti-drug fight is different from those implemented in many Latin American nations; we have achieved positive results by combining counteractions and prevention,” said Reus during the 1st Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States on the issue, held in Guatemala City.

The struggle against drugs includes all Cuban society and mass organizations said the minister who noted that each member with the regional bloc has its own characteristics.

Cuba is willing to collaborate and offer its experience in the fight against illegal drugs, said Reus, who stressed that the issue is of universal nature, while these kinds of meetings help socialize different alternatives already implemented in regional nations.

The gathering is being attended by 18 ministers and officials from all 33 members of the Community, who are debating the drug problem currently affecting not only this area but the entire world.
