Havana, September 9 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, appealed this Wednesday to reduce mobility and reinforce border controls in those territories affected by Covid-19, in response to the disease's expansion in the country.

The President urged people to avoid mobility as the main recourse to avoid spreading the disease.

¨I know that it hurts, that it is a sacrifice that we have to make, but it is necessary for the current conditions. We must avoid visiting family members, visiting friends, because the more mobility there is, the greater the risk of transmission. Every time there is a new cloister, an event in the current conditions, whether we are in a province or a locality, we must immediately avoid people's mobility from that locality to the others, no matter what phase the territor

y is in," the president stressed.

During the daily meeting on the control of the disease caused by the new coronavirus, the central provinces of Ciego de Avila and Sancti Spíritus explained their strategies to face the latest infections.

The governor of Ciego de Ávila, Tomás Alexis Martín, informed that as of this Wednesday, access was restricted to the main city, the most affected by the rebound in the province, which reported 37 cases in the previous day.

On the other hand, Sancti Spíritus registered four positive cases after four months without native transmission. The patients were reported in municipalities located close to Ciego de Avila province.

The Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, called for extreme controls in the border between both provinces due to the dissemination of the cases and the border areas' vulnerability.
